Hello All,

I am new here and new on the Bass instrument...

Encouraged by Bassist friends, I thought that it would be a good and funny compliment eventually after 30 years of guitar playing...

So let's start and... Let's see !

Welcome! That is an exceptionally nice looking J-Bass and the Mesa looks big enough to sound good and thumpy.

This bass is only a brand new Fender Squier Vintage Modified 70's. For the LH, 2 options were available : the sunburst and the natural. And yes, the natural is nice, less "seen everywhere".

The Boogie cab is the additional cab of my 1979 Boogie MKIIA combo. The speaker is an EVM12L 200W and the cab is the ported / Thiele type. Wired to the Little Mark (450W/4R - 280W/8R), it's underrated in power, but enough to be safe at the start for a wise bass beginner...

The MarkBass Little Mark I is probably too over the top for a beginner, and I could find way much cheaper and brand new bass heads instead, but it sounded good (with a friend on bass and 1x15" cab), seem to be built to last (power supply with toroidal transformer), and seem to have a good reputation for an used / discontinued gear... I Hope I am right having done this choice !

Thanks for letting me know it is a Squier. My bass is a Fender Mustang, but I also have a new Squier Strat (Chinese) that seems to be a good quality build.

Your amps should give you a great start with your bass journey and you won't be feeling the need for bigger and louder boxes (more euros) unless you start playing stadiums!

Hi All you Bassist Guys,

Another time for Greetings from France - these time for the departure...

I have sold my MarkBass LM1 and my Squier JB VM 70s LH NAT, as I understood that the noble and fundamental Bass instrument was not for me.

My bassist pals were ashamed by my demise and my lack of perseverance... They're right. I should have taken lessons to avoid my hands suffering while playing the instrument, but it's a matter of taste : I love hearing bass, but eventually not playing it. Too much guitar playing in 33 years ? Maybe...

So exit for me and good to you
I stay beside you with my guitar in the band !
