Ground Issue? Please help

Let me start by saying this is my first preamp install. I have a schecter studio 5 bass and I'm installing an Aguilar OPB-3 with a active/passive switch. The pickups are stock EMG HZs (passive). When I started to pull out the old preamp I might have knocked off the ground wire that grounds to the bridge. I'm not sure where the other end went so I soldered all the grounds to the top of the volume pot. I got it put all together and plugged it in and now I have a loud hiss and I can hear the radio loud and clear from it. What did I do wrong??? I am not the best solder. How good does the soldering have to be. Should I wrap all the wires together first and then solder them to the pot? Or should they all ground to the Jack? I can hit the passive switch and it's dead quiet.

Did you put one end of the grounding wire back under the bridge? You said you soldered them all to the volume pot.

I didn't take it off the bridge. But maybe I should take the bridge off and check the ground just incase I pulled it off or something. But please keep the troubleshooting answer coming. Thanks

I just checked, and the other end of the grounding wire attaches to the input jack. So perhaps instead of soldering the wire to the volume pot, try reattaching it to the input. If you don't know where on the jack it should go, try checking it for a spot of solder with no wire attached to it.

Well that didn't change anything. It's so loud I can only play it in passive mode. I'm lost!
