Ground Wound v Tape Wound Strings

I have flatwound strings on my fretless bass right now, and I don't get the same power I get from roundwounds. I want to get new strings that have that same punching sound as roundwounds but still have the sliding capability and smoothness as flatwounds. Ground wounds and Tape Wound Strings came up, and I can not decide for the life of me. I play thrash/death metal and I need a set of strings I can use for a long time and get the best tone from.

I have been digging the white tapewounds on my P fretless. They are very slick and it took a bit for me to settle in to them. Now I really like them. I have Nexus rounds on my other fretless and I like the tapes better. They are a wrapped round wound and at least, or brighter than groundrounds
