I like a little electricity in the sound when I use an amp. I play acoustic a lot so I like to use the amp for a different experience. I do try really hard to get an "Acoustic" sound with my EUB, but that is another situation altogether.
The two drummers I play with most right now, Weasel Walter and Kjell Nordeson can really go off at louder volumes, since they both listen and cooperate when I decide to go acoustic I like bringing the amp a lot of the time so they can really play.

I recently went from a GK 150MBE to a Genz Benz 3.0 10t. No regrets although the Genz is a bit too big to do the shoulder bag thing with. The Genz has a more full range sound and can hang on much louder gigs than the GK. The EQ on the Genz is fantastic - simple but very effective. IME the GK has an appealing tightness to it that sounds great for low volume stuff but as soon as the drummer gets even a bit excited and you turn the amp up it sounds pretty compressed.

You just gotta use any piece of gear for what it is. For small stuff it is my favorite amp out there hands down. It needs very little eq tweaking in any room. Something about that amp just works at lower volumes no matter how challenging the acoustics. In my case Wizzy/Clarus thing is great but 400 watts is way more than I need for a piano trio at a restaurant or wallpaper at a wedding. Plus the stage footprint of the GK can't be beat.

+1, it is a solid little amp and more than worth the bread. I might break down one day and get an AI or something nicer for my EUB, but I wouldn't spend more for the acoustic bass just because band members can't control themselves.
Anytime people want to hear a good bass sound they can settle down and use reasonable dynamics.

I now have both the GK MB150E combo and the Clarus/Wizzy 12 rigs.

They both have their purposes, and while there's overlap in what they can do, both have their own strengths.

I'll never worry about enough power or clarity with the Clarus/Wizzy. I'll appreciate the ease of carrying/setup with the GK combo, its small footprint, and its round, warm tone with my BugBass.

OTOH, I just couldn't bond with the Clarus/Contra extension. Not enough clarity or efficiency for what I do (small semi-acoustic blues trio).
