GS112 crossover

Hi.
I play a Waterstone 12 strings through a couple of Aguilar GS112 and 112NT. I also use a Peavey Classic 30 to handle the guitar side. To lighten my load, I thought that it'll be a good idea to use a Mackie 1202 mixer to sum up the 2 signals going to the Carvin DCM1000, using a Budda Phatman, replacing the Classic 30. But whenever I kick in the distortion, it seems to me that all the guitar frequency comes out only through the tweeter! So, what I get is the tiny and grainy tone you'd expect from a tweeter. :)

Any way of adjusting the crossover of those cabs?

what sound do you get if you run just through the "NT" cab?? that is what you'll hear if you are able to modify the crossover of the GS regular. maybe try turning down the tweeter and running a bit more volume, leave the cross over alone.

wait, wait, are you running an acoustic 12 string through a bass amp and cabs??? to tell you the truth I ran my friends hollow body electric '62 harmony guitar through my bass amp with a GS112 cab and about the best sound we could get was a mellow muted jazz guitar sound, but nothing bright that was nice to hear.

try finding a nice acoustic combo for that guitar.

Hi

I use the trace V type as my primary guitar preamp, using variousSS power amps. I use regular guitar cabs though. The guiatr cabs are sstock marshalls and they naturally fiilter of any high end beyond 3.5Khz. To record direct I use a DBX electronic crossover as a 'speaker simulator'.

To get a more guitaristic tone in your rig, I'd use 1U rack mixer to blend full freq. bass and distorted guitar tone bass, and a 1U 2 way crossover as a 'speaker simulator'. You can set the crossover to 3.2 - 3.5Khz and send a low pass signal to your rack mixer and power amp, or even to FOH. You can then blend your full frequency Spector and your 'guitar tone' Waterstone. Alternatively you could use a distortion device with an in builty speaker sim. tone, like a POD.

I have to say, when I had the Avalon U5 > Stewart World 1.2 > GS112, that was a beautiful acoustic sound when I plugged my buddies Taylor into it.

Something seems odd then in your signal chain. Its probably either the mixer or the phatman, but thats not normal.
