Guage strings you use?

This may be a retread question, if so sorry for rehash.

What guage string do you use on your main bass? I started getting picku in 1990 when I got my first Alembic Series I and started using 40-60-80-100 guage strings. For 27 years thats my guage. Prior to that what ever guage the music store had in stock.

***For what its worth, DR are my favorite brand of strings

i use 45-100 or so ish on my mikros, 40-95 on my fender. i have no clue what's on my jag ss right now.

DR Lo Riders 45-105 for standard tuning, 50-110 for drop tunings.

I'm into the "balanced tension" thing, so this means I always try to get them as close to 45-60-80-105 as possible.

For example...

I'm trying out a custom set of GHS Boomers, 45-60-80-105, right now.
Fender 9050CL flats, 45-60-80-105.
GHS Pressurewound ML7200, 44-58-80-102.
La Bella 760FL, 43-60-82-104.

On my main bass (this '73 4001 Rick)? Believe it or not, Hybrid Slinkys (45-105). The majority of my basses have 45-105s on them - but not necessarily the Slinkys.. But, they run the gamut from the 42-79 Labella Dano Flats on my Longhorn, to the 65-135 La Bella Black tapes on my BEAD-strung Carvin LB-20... Basically, I use whatever gives me the sound (and feel) I want from a particular bass...

I was using D'addario Xl 50-105's but I got a set of Fodera strings and am loving them. I ordered the wrong ones though, I went with a medium-heavy E set thinking the "medium" would be the same between manufacturers but they're not. So I'll be using 45-110 for the time being. I love the 110 gauge E, sounds awesome drop tuned but I'm not liking the 45 on the G. Too thin for my taste.

TI strings come in odd gauges... other than one bass with Pyramid Golds, that's what I use.

5 String Dunlop flats. They only come one way. The B is a 125 and I forget the rest.

I always found the lighter gauges a bit brighter sounding and the feel was always easier on my fingers than the mid and heavier strings.

It's the other way around. Thicker strings are brighter. Down-tune your A string to E, so you have 2 E strings, a thick one and a skinny one. Now compare the tone.

I'm a 45-105 guy for my P passes and 40-100 on my Jazz bass. For rounds I use DRs and for flats I prefer La Bella. I did just put the La Bella Jamerson set on one of my Ps and so far I'm quite happy with them.
