guess he never sold it....

Just for a second, let's assume his story is true.

How much is it worth???

Every bass Jaco used for any substantial period of time is fairly well documented. So, if his story is true Jaco could not have owned this instrument for more than a few weeks. It certainly isn't Babe Ruth's home run ball... At best, it is just a bass that Jaco owned for a very short period of time that he never once played in front of a camera or paid a tech to work on and has absolutely no verifiable provenance.

My vote, 1500.00.... And that's a stretch, assuming it plays and sounds pretty good.

EDIT:
It should be noted that this instrument has attained a certain amount of notoriety here among TBers, this alone adds a couple hondo to the value at least. ;)
Who among us wouldn't want to own the famous crazy guys fake Jaco bass??? Lol.

What's really strange about this guy is that he posts all of the questions and his answers. He doesn't have to. That's an option he has to manually select as the seller. The questions and his rude answers really don't add to his credibility. And, in one of the other threads, a few people said they know him and he's apparently a seemingly normal person that's somewhat known in the local music scene wherever he is. It's fascinating.

Yeah, it really is. Even assuming everything is 100% honest, who takes an instrument handed to you by a living legend and proceeds to start swapping parts on it?
In his defense Jaco WAS not a Living Legend at any time. He was relatively well known to other musicians, but the average person on the street did not know Jaco from Jack. I grew up in Florida and never heard of him until well after his death and I got deep into the bass playing lore. Either way this bass "body" is worth $1200 tops and that is just for the body- if it can be documented.

The average person *still* doesn't know who Jaco is, other than those few Metallica fans that are aware of Robert Trujillo's involvement with the Pastorius family. I and most of the kids interested in jazz in high school back in 1983 were just as into him as we were guys like Miles.

That beginning part about Babe Ruth is hilarious! Love it!! hahahahaha

I cannot believe he won't show neck pocket pictures. What's the harm! :)

If this is real, why would he ever sell it anyway. Can't get another one. Plus where did the original neck go? ***. That's most of the value of the instrument.

" There is not even a picture of Jaco playing it that I am aware"

Then when confronted on the bass in the picture being white:
"It seems that it was originally tobacco sunburts. The pic was sent to me by another well-wisher, attempting to aid me in the sell. And the pic is enhanced, the bass is not originally 'white', but modified for the black and white, sepia look of the picture."
