his dude should at least post a youtube clip of the bass. A demonstration. How it sounds etc....
I think I might just ask him to do so.
This priceless bass will be refinished to your specs upon payment. That will enhance its worth. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!" There is not even a picture of Jaco playing it that I am aware"
Then when confronted on the bass in the picture being white:
"It seems that it was originally tobacco sunburts. The pic was sent to me by another well-wisher, attempting to aid me in the sell. And the pic is enhanced, the bass is not originally 'white', but modified for the black and white, sepia look of the picture."

Maybe that seller can rewrite your story for you and get $30,000 for it.I would guess under $1k.
I have a 1972 Jazz (exactly like Geddy's) that was repainted and has replaced electronics and pickups. Great bass but I highly doubt I would get $2k. And that is with a black bound and blocked original neck.
Are you trying to discredit his story?Maybe he should take a look at the original "non-enhanced" photo and see how he interprets it as a sunburst finish:

Doesn't look like the same instrument to me.
I actually did play my '72 at a late gig one night after hanging out at an earlier gig with one of Geddy's relatives at HIS gig. He had dinner with Geddy a night or two before. We shook hands and very likely hugged. Therefore Geddy's DNA is on my bass. I can't document it.... but $30k anyone? Ok... $2500.Maybe that seller can rewrite your story for you and get $30,000 for it.

How can that be?

Who needs documentation? There was a story about a baseball selling for millions with no documentation.I actually did play my '72 at a late gig one night after hanging out at an earlier gig with one of Geddy's relatives at HIS gig.
