Guild Burnside Fishtail

I was talking with the UPS guy that delivers to my shop while Checking out Basses online, and he mentioned that he has this one for sale. Though I can't find any pics or info on them. Anybody got experience with these? I suppose I could ask him to go have a look at it, but I have no idea if I would even be remotely interested.

so if anybody has pics and/or info, it would be greatly appreciated.

Burnside instruments are from the mid-eighties, and I believe they were imported by Guild from Japan. I don't know what the Fishtail looked like, but the Lance:

and Crossbow:

were pretty weird looking. According to Harmony Central, the Lance is a pretty good bass for the average price of $135 the reviewers paid for theirs.

He says this one's some kind of custom jobby.. Figures he'll get close to a grand for it, but sounds like that's a stretch.. If I get to it I'll take a couple pics for kicks.

I have an acoustic guitar made by Guild Burnside. It is decent, but nothing special. I use it for writing sometimes. A grand seems high, though my only expierience was with one instrument.

They were cheap as hell in the day because Washburn was kicking Guilds butt in the "heavy metal" style of pointy guitars. Guild teamed up with Fender to produce the Burnside edition. I call it, "The Weapons series" because most had weapon like names. (Crossbow, The Lance, Blade, Cutlass, etc.) They produced guitars with set and bolt-ons. Most set necks go for up to $700 and bolt-ons are selling from $300-500 depending on the style. I know that most all were built in Japan but during the last year of production, they moved to a plant in South America because the China plant burned down. Of the South American made guitars, the "Crossroads" (a Tele type) and the "Cutlass" are the rarest of all and depending on the condition, I've seen them sell for a minimum of $300. One sure way to tell if it's Chineese made is by the location of the input jack and the thread pitch of the Accutune tremolo system. I had a Cutlass from China I sold for $229 on eBay and my "The Lance" six string with case just sold for $600 on CL. I could have gotten more but the person who bought it fell in love with the shape and sound and I knew he would take great care of her so I sold it cheaper than the asking price of $675. The tone and sustain is awesome on the Chineese made Burnsides but the South American version sounds hotter and is a lot heavier because they used all Mohagony wood and a heavy version of a Kahlor on the six strings.

Thats funny That pic of the crossbow bass is mine, as of 03/18/2017 I still have it.
