I never quite learned to play it right, but me and my drummer in my San Diego band always get a kick out of starting this in rehearsal. We've never made it halfway through the song.... But that's not the point! It's for the smile we bring to each other.

quoting / playing in the style of jaco, is a guilty pleasure for me. i need to be carefull where i do it though, the jazz world as i know it is pretty split 50/50 between jaco and the electric bass in gennerall being hip and cool or dumb cheesey lame ext.

i need to pretend to agree with them all to keep my gigs steady.. but in james with friends, i cant resist sometimes..

+1. Maybe there is a better way to say it. We probably don't really feel guilty, maybe just a little sheepish because they don't fit the genre of our band, or the guys we are jamming with, etc.
I love the two songs I mentioned, but they don''t fit with my band mates' taste or the stuff we play live.
