i've been going to guitar center since 1972, yet i never noticed there was no G in the logo, so it took me a couple seconds to see the difference![]()
The real question is, how soon will The Weeknd finally become The Weekend; certainly by now he can afford to buy a vowel, and more important, just why is he The Weeknd?
It kind of a miracle that Guitar Center even still exists. Over the last 10 years I’ve only bought a few sets of strings from the location near me. I do stop in from time to time and I’ve never ever seen anyone making a major purchase. The rent alone must be $10,000 a month. I don’t know anything about business but they’d probably have to sell about $15,000 worth of merchandise just to cover that and I can’t see how that’s possible.
brand recognition is something that companies pay many millions of dollars to achieve. GC already has this, and their logo is something musicians have been seeing for years or decdes.
i actually LOLed![]()
But a change you can't even notice without it being pointed out?Changing the logo is a chance for GC to show they’re alive and breathing. If you think back not many months ago, a lot of people in the industry expected them to go bankrupt any day. The pandemic instrument sales boom and more examples of creative finance of their considerable debt are the only reasons they’re still here

Any press is advertising they don't have to pay for. At least until they have to update all that signage. But a change you can't even notice without it being pointed out?
True on multiple fronts.Any press is advertising they don't have to pay for.

Actually, threads like this are one of my favorite things about TalkBass. Many of the most enjoyable things in life aren't technically necessary...they're just fun and/or interesting. What i don't understand is..... Why did THIS need it's own topic...?
I don't want to offence anyone, TB has some awesome topics, highly informatic, but often there is topics for stuff that makes me wonder why anyone has a nessecity to talk about this, or want others opinions.
It's at that point that the decision becomes questionable at best.Any press is advertising they don't have to pay for. At least until they have to update all that signage.
