I play "Brown Eyed Girl" out of the loudest bass thack they have... just to piss off the guitar players. If that doesn't do it, Margarittaville!!!!!

Having worked in a guitar store, I can tell you that *no one* cares how well you play. If you shred like crazy, no one cares. If you suck, no one cares. All these guys care about is if you have money - - or you are a cute female. GC is not a stage unless you bring your buddies to "show off". I, for one, used to really get tired of players coming in and wanking on equipment they have no intention of buying. Like I give a damn if they can play the latest Metallica/Iron Maiden/GNR/EVH riffs... I just wanted them to try it out, buy it or SPLIT.
Dude ... Do you really care what people in GC think about you? They are a bunch of posers and wannabes! They should be concerned about impressing you.
I was in a GC a few years ago in Canton MI. One of the managers is a very good bass player. He was in the bass room with some of his students and started showing off. I happened to have a bass plugged in so I kept up with him riff for riff. His students were quite distressed that I could play as well as he did. But I didn't care and he didn't care either. It really doesn't matter.
I just dont like to go in to a GC and crank up really loud and have the whole place shake, I usually keep the volume down and just play whatever comes to mind. Seems that whenever I am there, the only other people in the bass section are 13 year olds with tight-Wentzesque-black-girl-pants trying to play something from the chili peppers...badly. So, that usually loosens me up a bit.
Harry, I completely understand that and my opening post was of course sarcastic.
In a cheapo Squire & Epiphone store, that kids walks in to test a metal pedal, and what should have taken him 2 minutes to decide that the Digitech wonder would be fine for him, turned into 20 minutes of random hammering, only interrupted by super renditions of Iron Man and Smoke On The Water. Of course he was at 11. And of course Mom was impressed.
When I asked the sales guy how he could handle it, he said "handle what?"
My admiration level for guitar store sales people went up two notches that day.
I
Will it be... YYZ by Rush? Schism by Tool?
I Want You Back by the Jackson 5 (I mean, now would be the time...)

Actually I'm glad there is a GC around here. I mean what other venue would all the slappers and poppers have to perform?
(If they didn't already know it after I asked if they had a Pete Wentz signature in stock.
I was in Raleigh on spring break, both the Sam Ash and Guitar Center there suck.
Places that were good: Harry's Guitars, Fat Sound Guitars
I also went to this hole in the wall in Carrboro, what a dump

Yeah I was in Raleigh visiting some relatives. The Sam Ash was just so boring.......
They were certainly a cut above that GC though, man was that place awful.
