Hi guys, I'm saving up for a carvin and I'm willing to get rid of some of my basses. What I'm wondering is will guitar center ever give you cash rather than store credit and if so is it significantly less then what you would get if your were "trading up"

They'll give you wayyy less than you'd make selling it off Craigslist...but the trade will be immediate. Depends on how much you're willing to lose and how bad you want the bass they have...
+1. the only difference is with trading in you get an additional 15%.
but i would sell on my own before id trade anything at GC.
For sure, you'd be better off selling on your own through CL, or on here. If you want to know how much they'll give you. Search ebay and see what gear like yours has closed for, and figure they will give you half of that.
guitar center gives you about 40% of the price of it new, atleast thats what i have been given whenever i sell anything at gc. they usually tell you to just go on ebay or craigslist anyway
I would never trade anything in at any store, not only GC. You won't get hardly anything compared to if you sell it yourself on CL.
The 15% trade in/trade up can help offset the difference if there isn't a good sale going on (for something you may want) from Guitar Center. However, I tend to agree with previous comments that unless you are looking for quick money, you will generally do much better w/Craigslist, eBay, etc.
