There's a pretty blue G&L El Toro for $725 at the Plano, TX store. Even has a matching headstock.

God I love G&Ls. They really play and sound like Leo's finest achievement in guitars. when it comes to brand new guitars these days, I'll take any american-made G&L over fender-brand stuff all day. I've never seen this El Toro model before. sexy. I've wanted a G&L SB-2 (lefty) for 4 years now.

I just bought a pretty hard to find Yamaha drum kit for my son. Got it for $60 less than asking price. Got to talk to the managers on these.. Anyway, it came in. Man was it hacked up. Boy did they leave the dents and hacks out of the description. Also, when it came in, they conveniently forgot the tom mounting tree.. Took them 3 days to locate it (I made a pain of myself trying to get them to get it to me) and they told me they would try to get it sent out in a couple of days. Now, I am in WI and they are in NY somewhere, so it isn't like I can go get it. BTW, this is a birthday gift for my son.. So timing was important.. Still a good deal, but be careful. They and come off shady

Bought a Washburn B20 back in May. The store in Texas said it was a 8 out of 10. When I got it the bass was beat to hell and had a snapped truss rod. A 2 out of 10. Returned it to my local GC and got grief over it. Usually they are pretty good but sometimes they don't really let you know everything about the piece because they just want the sale.

You have to make sure to email the store when inquiring about the item's condition.

That way if you return the item you have backup documentation in hand.

If the condition is way off, the local GC should be mad at the other store not you.

Bought 2 used items online, made sure to pick them up at the local store so I can try them out "in-house". Doesn't work? Looks like hell? Well...Keep it Mr GC!

As far as haggling on used gear, the store will haggle if the item has been on the floor a while. I tried to negotiate a setup on a mint P Lyte and they refused. I explained the action was awful, if the luthier set it up and proved to me that it would play well I would pay full rice. I was told it just came off the 30 day hold and I should come back in 90 days to see if it was still there.

I was thinking about picking this up but I really don't need it so I will post it here; Marco Custom TFL4 - 649.99... I feel like I need to pass on the deals! I have already made some pretty awesome scores from them the past couple of weeks. (Lull M5 - $1499, Mesa M6 Carbine - $399, Mesa PH212 $399)

Here it is, they shot themselves in the foot listing it as a guitar though.

Do you need a reason to return a used item? AFAIK simply not liking it within the return period.

I call the store and ask questions vs. emailing... IME it's far quicker. Every time I've asked for photos I've gotten them quickly. When the condition upon receipt didn't matched what I was told I renegotiated. That's only happened once.

Also I can't say I understand having it sent to the store vs. directly to me. I've never had an item sent to a store... what would I gain from that? I receive them at home, if they're cool I haven't wasted time going to a store. If not I contact the original store if I want to dicker or just return it locally.

Do they ship to the store for free? If not, what's the benefit?

No, they don't ship for free.

I think some feel extra security of opening the box at a GC in case there is something wrong with the item.

Other benefits could include:

1. Not having it stolen off of your doorstep or have to be around if the package requires a signature, and

2. Hiding the purchase from a spouse or significant other.

In my purchases they've used UPS. I have them hold the package at the local depot for free if I don't want it delivered at home. I can pick up after 9:30am so no waiting around to sign. As far as hiding from a spouse, I cleared that up before I got married.
:D

If I open a package that's clearly not damaged and find a problem THEN I might head to a store after calling the manager at the store I purchased from.

Any other good reasons? I've bought quite a few items from them and these don't really seem to be of any real benefit besides hiding stuff.
;)
