[Dr. Phil voice] What you need to do[/Dr. Phil voice], is find another one worth buying, hopefully at a better price. Then, walk into GC with cash in hand (vintage stuff (tagged vintage) isn't returnable under the satisfaction guarantee (as far as I know) so I wouldn't feel bad about paying cash), talk to the store manager and let them know that there is another similar bass that you're considering and work out a deal with them. If they won't budge, be prepared to walk away.

You might want to use the old car buying technique of giving them your contact info and tell them that when they're ready to work with you on price to give you a call. In the meantime just pursue the other bass.

I would try that but the store that has what I want is in California and I'm in Maryland....

But I did send them an eBay link of a vintage 59 p bass that was in way better shape that went for like $2 grand less than what their store was asking and they pretty much blew me off. Just seeing if a different tactic would work.

Just a heads up. There's a fretless Ric 4003 at Guitar Center in Tacoma, WA. Maple w/black pickguard and hardware. Great condition. It was sold to the store last week, so I don't think that it's been released yet. Priced at $1499.99.

I guess the same guy that sold the store the Tuxedo White Ric 4003 I have on layaway sold it to them.

If I can put this question here?

If you have a personal 10% off coupon (not transferable, one-time-use), should you be able to use it in for a used item in a brick and mortar GC? Because mine was just denied and I'm not quite happy about it since it didn't say anything about used items being excluded.

They quit accepting any coupons for used stuff around a year ago. The codes simply will not work in the system. Just talk to the "store manager" and complain about it and they will probably take off the 10% manually.

The store manager was called over and the item was an obviously good deal, so I kinda did that without success.

I just wanted to know whether this is normal. If they treat everybody that way that's fine. Still want them to mark it on the (**(#(*# coupon.

For them to discount a used item, it needs to be in the system for a minimum of 90 days. That's their "store policy"

If you're a loyal customer, friends, etc, etc, etc, they will bend that rule a little depending on what that particular sales person feels like doing. Same goes for after 90 days too. Typically, they'll discount it as a price drop. They may discount it a little more if you ask. It really just depends on the person.
