I love Guitar Hero as a fun game to have around with friends. I play it with a lot of other music majors as well as people in my dorm. Great party game, because the adjustable difficulty means everyone can enjoy it on some level. I think it's made me a bit of a better guitarist too, just because I'll hear a song in the game and that will inspire me to learn it in real life on my actual guitar. Also a good way to practice finger independence in your left hand if you're playing on Expert.
And for the record, I've beat Play With Me on Expert once or twice. I usually fail at 93%, which is really sad because it's the last downward run right before it gets easy at the end again. For those struggling, the trick is to conserve your star power until at least the last choruses, if you have to use it during the solo then you're screwed for the rest of the song. Oh, and practice on very slow speeds is key. It took me most of an afternoon to be able to work through it.
