Guitar is making a horrible buzzing noise..

The sound was initially horrible while playing in a standing position. I took it to a luthier, and after 7 weeks, he replaced the jack. This didn't solve the problem....Now, when playing in the seated position I can hear the buzzing noise, but it's not as pronounced. I notice the noise when I rest my thumb on the pick-up. As soon as I take my thumb off, the noise stops. I was told that all of the wires are attached properly, but I can't help but think it's a ground issue.

I'm positive there's no pressure on the jack.

You are injecting noise into the pickup when you rest your thumb there. The problem should be somewhat reduced when you are also touching the strings, assuming your bridge is properly grounded. IF not it is worthwhile checking that the bridge is properly grounded.
