Guitar player rage quit cuz his amp got dinged

Why was his beer sitting on top of his amp?…rookie.
Nothing wrong with wanting your gear to stay nice, but that's not always very compatible with being in a working band.
It'd be tough to keep things pristine under most of the conditions I play in and trying to worry about that would just bring avoidable stress into my life. I prefer to not live a life of stress and worry, and I play gigs, so I don't sweat these things and I don't really want to be around players who do; worriers tend to bring a negative vibe to performances.
Maybe having a separate set of home studio gear that you keep under lock and key would help people who have this dilemma in their lives. They could buy used gear that's already scuffed up for road purposes.

I don’t worry about it too much, but when I realized how fragile the thin Tolex is on my SVT-210AV cabs, I bought covers.
IMO the nicest basses are the ones that are worn and battle scarred from actually being gigged.
Makes sense. I'd like to see my cabinets staying nice for as long as they can. I accept that they'll inevitably show a bit of wear. But I also know that a black sharpie can do wonders for at least keeping things looking stage-sharp from a distance

Shame the kit isnt very old bit to get dinged but I kind of lost concern when I read his beer on amp. That shows total disregard.
I think red flags are elsewhere and this was going to blow up sooner or later over 1 thing or another.

Why would he automatically assume one of you did it deliberately? There's either some history there we haven't heard or he's a paranoid asshat.
One time, right before starting a gig, our guitar player spilled a beer on top of his amp head and of course, the thing went POOF! and we had to delay the start of the gig for an hour so he could go home and get another amp. That's why I never put any liquids on top of any amps.
Black sharpie used to be called a “Steinway Repair Kit” for that very reason. I have “retouched” piano finishes that way more than once.
