Guitar players corner!

I wandered into the local store to look for a Squier for a mod project. Lo and behold there was a 2019 Player Strat and the price tag was fair. Of course I pulled it down and plugged it in. Thing plays and sounds like a dream.

I traded in an Ibanez Artcore I wasn’t really playing anymore, so after trade value I got the Player for $217.

I’ve had Fender basses but this is my first Fender guitar. Im a happy camper! :)

I plan on screwing down the tremolo, switching to block saddles (for palm muting comfort) and modding for master tone. But that’s about it, everything else is fantastic.

Got a baritone to go with my, uh, bassitone.

Ibanez SRC6MS on your left, nut filed and bridge saddle drilled to get down to B0–B2, acquired back in February.

Ibanez RGIB21 on your right, acquired today.

I’ve really taken to these bizarre tweener instruments.

SG-Teor

Is it available with a right way around headstock?
Not that unusual or innovative…Washburn has had this, the WI-64, as a regular production model for years:

Plus a slightly thicker, more LP style, the Idol:

Then the bass version, the WB-66…

I’ve owned all three.

So I’ve had the Blackstar Fly for about 2 years. My late night practice routine makes it my most used amp, and I got an itch to “upgrade.” Black Friday deal got the best of me so I put in my order.

Plenty of YouTube demos on this so I won’t go into the full gamut. But I’ll say I’m pretty impressed. Marshall heavy tones are unreal, and the Fender clean tones are pretty good too. Definitely more bass and more sparkle than the Blackstar. I think I’ll be keeping this one :)

Not interested in 3/4 of the features on this thing, I just wanted a great sounding micro amp. But the backing tracks are a welcome bonus surprise!

Forgot to mention that’s the Spark Mini 😆

It also had bass amp sims, so at some point I’ll plug the 4 stringer in too!

Serious question. People really like and use distortion on acoustic guitars?

Yes, but not that much. I ran my acoustic through a Friedman tube amp for a few tracks I recorded, but the distortion was more of an enhancement which was hardly detectable, rather than the overdone effect on that video.
We’ve got a somewhat edgy folk duo around here with acoustic guitars and expansive pedalboards. I remember one of them kicking in an overdrive (an OCD, I think) for a lead and it just made it “pop,” nothing too out there, but effective. FWIW
