It looks very interesting. Would love to see it in the U.S.
I wrote to them to see if we can get more information on both the bass and the strings.
Check out the videos below. And know that the La Bella CB40s sound something like those strings. I wouldn't be surprised if they were similar construction.

They don't even have prices on their website. One might need a command of Spanish to even figure all this out (they have a direct number to their factory).
I want one BADLY.
Here's their English web site. I thought I saw prices somewhere on the site, I think around $1500, but I could be mistaken.

Who else has jumped into the water recently? With one of these basses, or, with the La Bella CB40 strings?
I would like to see someone try out their Ibanez with LaBella Flats from goldtone to check on the intonation. Since goldtone will let you use them on there Polly microbass it seems to stand to my thinking anyhow that the tension would not be too great

Not sure if these are the same... I've used these on a Hadean solid body 24" scale uke bass. (IMHO) they make a uke bass sound "normal".

For those who have tried the Ibanez and the Taylor, how would you compare the neck profile—shape of the back of the neck and thickness?
They're not the same. The Kala has a nylon core round wound and lower tension that's good for acoustic, the Gold Tone LaBella flat wounds are all metal higher tension for solid body. I never liked the noise round wound makes, I always go with flat wound or Pahoehoe smooth poly.
I contacted gold tone and they told me that they could change the saddle and bridge on a micro base to 50 labella flat wound strings and have good intonation the cost for a new one from them it with the flat wound strings and shipping 495 to retro fit 1 that you alredy own the $100 for the strings and the sound of modification and 41 shipping

Tymbrewolf .. Are we talking the 23 or 25 inch scale? Does that include fretted models or only fretless?
It's nice to see all these string choices springing up for these new types of basses.
Nice...I think I'd go with the 25 fretted, but the 23 wouldn't be bad. The 23 is probably closer in scale to the Taylor and Guild. The 25 is probably closer to the Ibanez and Ohana.
I'm thinking 25 side is the way for me too! Might have to email Gold Tone to see if they could setup a 25 fretted with the flats!
Just emailed Wayne and he said that a fretted M-Bass 25 with LaBella flats was doable. Just waiting to hear back on the price!

I have played flats for the last several years and not sure I really want to go back to rounds. However, rounds would be better with a pick!
Rounds are always an option.
