Great news. Black Diamond is willing to size a single SKU for us. So, there are two topics to get through:

1. Do we precisely mimic the DAddario string sizes, or do we tweak them to improve on that? I am inclined to, at the very least, increase slightly the E and the G, which is where I felt the DAddario set needed more beef. But, I am a team player :), and I would like Anyone who is likely to purchase one of these sets to offer their vote on that. Majority will set this.

2. We need everyone to send me a measurement of - ball end to nut. We want to maximize how many different basses will be able to use this one SKU. So, let's start rounding up:
- Taylor measurement
- Guild measurement
- Ibanez measurement
and I will provide
- Michael Kelly measurement.

I hope many see this and offer some feedback. We are being given a very unique, special opportunity here.

Maybe we should do the measurements twice. Ball end to nut and ball end to closest tuner? We want to find the optimal taper start that will work on as many Basses as possible.

Dies anyone know if the taper start for the Daddarios is different for the stock versions.

Can anyone with a DAddario replacement set cite the ball end to taper start measurement?

Hoping to collect this info quickly. The folks at Black Diamond are totally engaged and want to help.
This can happen easily, quickly, and affordably. With a little luck, the same efforts can be applied both to our acoustics and the electric sub shorts, but we will focus this on maximizing for acoustics.

Taylor:

E and G - 24.5” to nut, 26.5” to center of tuner
A and D - 24.5” to nut, 28.5” to center of tuner

I have LaBella MBLS flats on two GSABs, a Gold Tone fretless MicroBass 25, and a Michael Kelly Sojourn Port. The strings are on backorder right now, but they fit both basses very well. They are not recommended for fretted GSABs that were built for synthetic or nylon core strings, as they will throw the intonation off unless the bridge saddle position is altered. On the fretless Microbass you correct intonation with your fingers and ears. The Sojourn Port was built for steel core strings, and I found the intonation with the LaBellas to be very close to what it had been with its stock phosphor-bronze (steel core) strings. The LaBellas aren't as loud as the phosphor-bronze, but they do sound and feel very nice acoustically. They sound great when amplified.

Copy....thanks!!!! Nice to see that the LaBella MBLS will work on the MK, as the Sojourn Port would be the one I would get.

I just took out my Ibanez AVNB1e. I'm not going to remove the strings to see measurements from the ball-end, but from the inside (toward the tuners) edge of the saddle to the inside (toward the saddle) of the nut, the measurements are:

E and G - 25.25” from saddle to nut, 28.0” to center of tuner
A and D - 25.25” to nut, 30.5” to center of tuner

Thank you. I get not wanting the hassle of pulling the string. But, could you possibly then give me those measurements using, instead of saddle to nut, back end of bridge to nut? I think that will be a little closer to true needed length, instead of the measurement to the saddle. ?

Hmm. Given the shape of the bridge, where would you suggest the back end of it is?

It's a uniform 26" on all strings from the back of the bridge pin to the middle of the nut, 28.25" for the E and G strings from the back of the bridge pin to the middle of the tuner, and 31" on the A and D strings. Does that help?
