Came across this thread mentioning one of our products and appreciate the comments. While the GS Custom looks tall, it's only 48" high and provides surprisingly comfortable access to your instrument with plenty of clearance between you and your guitars below. Hey Rip,

Was thinking about this myself just yesterday. Being a Thunderbird lover myself, I get a bit panicky sometimes because of the way it sits...some of the stand alone units are particularly nerve racking.....maybe for your next mod your could try to have a slot or two modded for the thunderbird lover. Also the top bar, for a suggestion, could you rotate the top bar so the instruments neck would be flatter so that the neck would be supported by the whole back piece and not just on a small part of neck? I'm gonna delve into this sometime soon. Spending most of my time on the 40x60 rink in my backyard right now!!

Not a bad idea. Actually I have 3 'birds at the moment and they stay on the stand very well. As far as rotating the back of the stand, that might not work cuz every neck is different.
To be honest, I can't imagine building another unless someone asks for one. I'd rather spend my time in the shop building the basses to put on the stand!!!
If I revisit this stand, I'll be sure to spend some more time developing before I start building.

Yeah the PVC just seems cheap and flimsy to me. Plus, with a woodshop in my garage, building with anything other than wood just seems a little sacrilegious.

Definitely not simple, and it's more of a display case than a functional stand, but I figured the wood loving folks here would appreciate it. What else would you expect from the fine folks at Alembic??

What kind of site makes me install new browser extensions just to view it? I was interested in seeing it but I can't.

This was the product of a morning's efforts. Made from scrap and a few screws. Cost? A few hours effort a bit of glue and a few screws!
