Guitar Straps and Locks

No locks, just the stock strap buttons on the 'Bird and EB. The upper button has been moved to the heel of the neck on both. The Canora has stock buttons with the upper button moved to the heel of the neck, too. EB2 came that way, but it has Dunlops, as does the P-Bass. The Ric has Shallers because they work with the stock buttons. The upper button on that bass has developed a habit of unscrewing itself. Time for a toothpick, I guess. Straps are wide ones from the local shop. Onori mostly, I think. There's on that's a Levy's but it's too long and I don't use it much. They are all black or dark brown. Strap visual appeal isn't the point.

As long as my left arm doesn't go numb and the bass doesn't fall off, I'm pretty happy with anything and everything.

I have a Franklin Strap and Straploks. I really like the Franklin but would like to get another leather strap for a backup.

I really like Long Hollow Leather straps. They were actually the original manufacturer of the Franklin Strap, before Franklin decided to cut costs. LHL is a small family-run shop that makes top-quality straps. Their website isn't set up for online ordering, but you can find their straps at Amazon or other online retailers. You can also contact them directly.

For basses that go out a lot, I use Link Removed Straplocks. They're low-profile and very secure.

My other favorites, though, are these locks from Kluson:

It's kinda hard to tell from my pic, but they're regular strap buttons, with a wide cap that screws down over the end of your strap. They're very secure and you can use them with any strap.

I use Dunlop strap locks. They are easy to install and remove when necessary. The schallers kept coming unscrewed on the straps. For straps, I use the Dunlop d38s because the aren't floppy. I also have a couple of Gibson fatboys for longer playing times.

Except my gretsch bass. No straplock needed on that one. The buttons are pretty secure already.
