Geddy Lee played guitar before he picked up bass. Ya wanna rethink that? Most guitarists don't know much about really playing bass, so I don't believe they're much of a threat.
I was just mashin your taters.I said most, not all. Geddy Lee is a perfect example of self-advancement.

Interesting idea. Hope it is a niche product.
Exactly. I play in a duo and I "emulate" guitar with bass, but I'll never be able to obtain interesting entwines like if they were two independent instruments. I can try with a delay but it's not the same.Who wants the bass to track the exact same line as the guitar?

I don't want to sound pessimistic, or like I'm down on guitarists, but many of them have 4 or five strings more than what they know what to do with.Speaking as a guitarist converting to bass, I'd worry more about Charlie Hunter and Tosin Abasi than I would about these things.
In other news, I've threatened to remove my rhythm guitarist's low E string so he does something other than chug.![]()

I use octave and delay frequently at church. We have tons of gadgets that allow us to get into guitar range too.
