Don't get me wrong, I love Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin and all, but as a guitarist he's overrated. He's exceptionally sloppy (especially when playing fast) and he doesn't "finish" a lot of his bends. When I think of the personification of "rock star" the picture in my mind is of Jimmy Page. This is kind of like a singer/frontman thing. You can be a great frontman without being a great singer. Page was a phenomenal producer/engineer, great arranger, a great writer, a better than competent guitarist (and an incredible thief ). A guitar hero- Yes. A guitar "god" - No.

He's still one of my favorite guitarists, if not my favorite.

I always prefered Iommi to Page myself. Iommi just that powerful "evil" type sound and flow.

if you ask me (which you probably wont ) page's sloppyness is what made him so special, what gave zepplin their vibe, now you cant say hendrix wasnt sloppy he didn't play in tune most the time...but its just the amount of emotion page put into it
