GuitarPartsResource Problems?

REFRESHING GOOD NEWS!

Just this morning, I have been in repeated contact with GPR and they are making sure that I become and stay a happy customer.

There was a serious backorder for some of the parts I ordered, and although the communication up to this point was a big ZERO - they have more than shown me that they are in business to do business.

Jess has offered to send me the BO parts with a refund if that was what it took to make me happy - but I feel that paying for them is my duty, and as I will eventually get the parts I want, this is OK with me.

Bravo Jess - (and whomever it was that also sent me a few e-mails, asking me of the problem I was having as the name slips me at the mo, sorry).

Communication is a primary need for a buyer, and an absolute necessity for a company doing business 'in-the-clouds' and not local to the buyer.

Thanks to GuitarParts and especially to the BassParts-side of the company for their information and offers.

I've probably ordered stuff from basspartsresource.com, about a dozen times (the latest being two hours ago), and they've never screwed up anything. In fact, they have always been very consistent in shipping out the items fast enough where I can count on getting my order within a week.

This. I've only ordered from them once though. Sent an email to make sure they had what I wanted and confirm that, despite the somewhat shoddy look or the site, that they were legit. They responded within a few hours and I had my part a week later.

I've ordered dozens of times over the years. The parts always come in a timely manner and well packaged. For example, the parts are separated in small bags or bubble wrap so they don't rub against each other and get bunged up in transit. I've gotten stuff off Ebay where they threw chrome parts and screws all together in a bag. Or plastic parts in with metal hardware. But I have, occasionally, gotten parts from GPR that were not useable or not what I was expecting. Like knobs that looked normal in the picture but turned out to be huge, like what would go on the front of a washing machine. Or the time I got six brass Jazz Bass nuts. They were so short that when installed in a standard Fender neck the string slots were below the fretboard. The only way that anyone could ever have used one of these nuts would be to completely fill the nut groove and stick the brass nut on top with epoxy. When this happens I just take all the bad parts and throw them in the garbage and don't order any more of that kind. Contacting the seller and trying to work out which parts you need, exchanging parts or any other problem is a headache for you and them too. I don't mess with it.:)

Good to know Joe. I've been looking to order some hardware for my VM jazz and I'm not in a very good financial spot to be messed over.

I´ve been trying to comunicate with them for days, I`m in Uruguay (south america) and In a few days a friend of mine will be travelling to NY. So i would like to buy from here (via paypal) but I would like to receive the cargo where my friend wil be staying.

This will be my first experience buying this way (I mean Paying from overseas but recieving the purchase in the US)

While Checking their payment terms
Link Removed
I found This:
"Payment address and shipping address should match."

As you US TBers are much more used to this kind of purchase I ask you Is this Term let´s say "unbreakable"

I´m not trying to break any law, I think, but if I can send it to my friend's place I will get it faster and I will not have to pay the shipment taxes (here are about 60% of what you paid)

Any suggestion or similar experience?

What you're asking for is called 'Drop-Shipping' and most all retailers are very suspicious and will NOT send something to a different address than the billing address.

It may not be illegal, but there could be some complications if the item never arrived (or someone SAID it never arrived) at the intended address.

I can understand their unwillingness to make or offer to make such a transaction.

Once in a while I can get Guitar Center to do a drop-ship, but it is all within the boundaries of the same state, not to mention: the same country.

I buy from BassPartsResource/GuitarPartsResource on a regular basis.

They have most of what I need, they have it for fair prices, they (usually) ship promptly, and they have never yet messed up one of my orders.

HOWEVER - and this is a pretty big however - don't ever bother trying to reach them with any kind of question, by any means. I received a response to a part enquiry once. ONCE.

They have NEVER returned any of my phone calls, and only ever returned one email, and the first time I ordered from them, the parts took over a month to arrive. (I assume, in hindsight, that perhaps they were out-of-stock on one of the items, and waited to send out the order in its entirety.)

I still do business with them, though, because I like their website layout, selection, and prices. I honestly don't really mind the lack of communication - I feel it's a minor inconvenience - since, as I say, they've never screwed up an order, and on every purcase since the first one, I've received my parts within two weeks, which isn't bad considering I'm in Canada.

The original order was in the second week in May - funny, but they don't date their bills or receipts!

The monetary debit transaction however, was posted on May 13th, 2011 by my bank.

I was informed that the parts would be shipped in 7-10 days and that date of that notice was 12 MAY 2011, that date is my handwriting, not their statement.

I had the same issue, after 2 weeks I made a paypal complaint and weird... they don't respond to email or phone call but refund almost immediatly??? jerks...

I made the same order 1 week later and I received everything in 3 days???

I ordered from them many times in the conus and overseas (france) and absolutly NO problems... so? weird company.
