Guitars, Guitars, Guitars...

Last summer I was cleaning out my dad's basement and found my first guitar amp from middle school. It's an Fender Sidekick Reverb 30. These things are a surprising gem from the 80s designed by Paul Rivera that nobody knows about but they get much love online for the price. It's got spring reverb, a presence knob and a sweet overdrive. You can snatch one up for $50-$150 on reverb. I swapped the blown Fender speaker for WGS and now the thing has more volume than I need.

+1 for the early Sidekick. They do go hard. There's an Etone in one of mine — a little antipodean magic :)

First is my Rocket Special HSS that a friend gave me. The nut cracked at the bass side E string and the treble side E string tuner shot off somehow so now I play it strung EADG. Also at some point I gutted the electronics and rewired it like a Les Paul Junior.

Next is my Harley Benton kit Telecaster, I put this together to have as a modding platform and to have something set up for C standard. I threw a cheap Dean humbucker my friend had extra from getting his pickups upgraded in the neck spot, shimmed the neck with a Whataburger gift card, added a series/parallel switch, and put those nails in down below the bridge for more sustain and string tension for lower tunings. Next I'm going to add individual on/off switches for the pickups and a momentary button.

This was a skateboard.

Not pictured are my Austin Telecaster copy which was my first guitar and the only guitar I've left stock, and an old Hohner acoustic my dad had when he was a kid.

I also have regular access to my dad's Robin Avalon Sport (Les Paul Junior copy, built in Houston) and 90's Squier butterscotch Tele.

I've owned many over the years, but finally settled on my first new one that is perfect:

When I went to the local music store I'd noodle around on a couple of guitars every time, because I didn't have one at home.
Eventually I realized this was the best-sounding one out of all the PRS, Fender, & other Ibanez.

On a bit of a whim I went ahead & bought it on Black Friday, for 25% off.

Fender Custom Shop Nocaster, Nashcaster, Squier '62 Classic Vibe Custom, , Squier Classic Vibe Custom/FSR Limited Edition, Nashville Telecaster, Les Paul '56 Gold Top, Epiphone Casino Hollowbody, G&L ASAT Special, plus Taylor 214ce-dlx and Takamine GN93ce acoustic/electrics.

Hmmm... Looking around, I have an old Johnson acoustic, a recent Ovation acoustic, a recent (reproduction) late-romantic-styled classical, a 1979 Carvin electric, an older (300-series) Variaxe, a recent mexi-strat (deluxe model) and my 'global-tar' strat [ Russia (artwork) / USA (paulownia body/EMG pickups/machine heads) / Israel (birdseye maple neck) / Turkey (solid titanium trem) / UK (trem springs) / Germany (straplocks) / Japan (knobs) / Canada (jackplate, and assembly) ].

Today I'm putting a set of flatwounds on that one, as it's way overdue for fresh strings! :)

Also, down in the workshop there's a 2013 lefty Gibson "guest" SG completely stripped down and waiting for assembly, a brand new purpleheart/ziricote/paulownia 12-string strat (all in pieces, also waiting for assembly), and a "HollowLembic" six-string "point-style" hollowbody still waiting for some final woodwork and all assembly. Resolution: 2019 will be the year I finally get those put together!

I have owned many guitars in my life (from Richwood Telecasters to Epiphone Les Pauls and an Ibanez Blazer at some point) and I bought a new one yesterday. I've told myself I can only own one electric and one acoustic at the same time, so I had to sell my (otherwise brilliant) Squier Vintage Modified Jazzmaster to buy this beauty:

A 2018 Fender American Performer Telecaster :-)

Which is joining the LAG 4S400D I bought about 7 years ago. Many people have estimated this guitar to have cost €1000 but it was only €350 new!

I have gone thru a slew of 6 strings but have thinned the heard to these:

Squire 51, Blondie
56 U2 Dano
Epi 59 Lp tribute ( bought used in Nashville) amazing guitar value.
Semi Hollow Xavier (GF) P-90
Xavier Travel (HB) 3/4 size
Slick Tele ( GF)
Gretsch Corvette ... My favorite daily player
Peavy Power Slide
Recording King Slide
Yam jr50 travel accoustic
Yam 70's 12 string accoustic
and ..... 4 Basses

I've always dabbled but just recently started playing a lot more guitar.

I just acquired some new stuff:

2013 Gibson Les Paul Standard
1992 Fender AVRI 62 Stratocaster

I also have:
1967 Gibson LG1 acoustic
Early 90's Japanese Fernandez Strat (SSH)
First run Fender Jag-Stang

I'm thinking about picking up a Squire CV Tele soon
