Gumtree's a dangerous habit
bought on a whim - a 'Beatle Bass' - A Shine Viola Bass copy
close to the Epiphone model (3 knobs, 2 volume 1 tone - no switches). Sixty quid or $100.
Strings seem knackered, tarnished, dead. Even so I'm surprised at how little resonance when plucked, quite dead a solid body bass on fresh strings rings out by comparison (maybe the Shine is semi-hollow?).
Neck adjustment seems OK but Bridge height seems high to me - upwards of 3/4 inch. Does that seem about right? or could this just be the choice of the previous owner?
Should I go for genuine Hofner strings? Invalid Link Removed or Invalid Link Removed. Cheaper choice has the right picture but dearer ones have the right text!!
