No, my Ruger isn't a MK II, it isn't even a MK I, it's a "Standard". Built in the late 50's I believe. I'm looking for the original slim black plastic grip panels.

Ah I see, don't know a ton about older Rugers, just some of the newer ones.
Do you have any experience with the LC9? I have been delaying purchasing a LCP, to maybe look at the LC9.
One Ruger that my girl wants for her birthday is the SP101, but in .327 (which I think is a bad idea and should just settle with .38).
I don't think I've ever seen a Remington revolver.
Re: FAL or Mini-14 - Mini-14 has a spotty history, and tends to function poorly well with non-Ruger magazines. The FAL (especially DSA) have a great reputation. OTOH, .223/5.56x45mm costs less to shoot than .308/7.62x51mm.
I had a Century FAL for several years and enjoyed it greatly. My BIL has a Mini-14 that I've seen choke a couple times with pretty light use.
You could split the difference and get an AK!
Sorry for the typo, I meant to put I have a Ruger .38 revolver but had the Remington on my mind. And thanks for the opinions on the mini-14 and FAL, I will definitely keep that in mind when I make up my mind.
I agree with you on the .327. It's way too new, and you'd hate to get stuck with something that's impossible to find ammunition. Just ask the .45 GAP owners.

Exactly my thoughts. At least with the SP101 in .357, she can plink with the lesser expensive .38 specials if she would like.
Not only that, I find most .357 rated revolvers to shoot .38's a bit more comfortably. But yep, the GAP is a goner.
