So I’m out talking my evening walk with my wife, and not two blocks from my house I find this in the gutter – a Royce guitar in several pieces. The headstock is still attached to the bridge by strings, and though one of the pickup covers is bent flat, it’s basically a complete guitar (or at least was).
A young adult lady is walking on the sidewalk, and I say “Do you think it fell off a car?” She said, “Probably an upset girlfriend.”
There are a few sites with info, but not much. People seem to have used them as starter guitars back in the day.
Strangely enough, it’s the third guitar I’ve found on the curbside in my neighborhood (the others were not destroyed like this). Maybe the standard work of our local delivery guy?
I’m going to give it to a friend who buys those kits and makes his own guitars and basses – this one didn’t come with directions, but he should be able to figure it out.

We'll have to come up with a new signifier.
