Gutter Find (or just standard UPS delivery?)

So I’m out talking my evening walk with my wife, and not two blocks from my house I find this in the gutter – a Royce guitar in several pieces. The headstock is still attached to the bridge by strings, and though one of the pickup covers is bent flat, it’s basically a complete guitar (or at least was).

A young adult lady is walking on the sidewalk, and I say “Do you think it fell off a car?” She said, “Probably an upset girlfriend.”

There are a few sites with info, but not much. People seem to have used them as starter guitars back in the day.

Strangely enough, it’s the third guitar I’ve found on the curbside in my neighborhood (the others were not destroyed like this). Maybe the standard work of our local delivery guy?

I’m going to give it to a friend who buys those kits and makes his own guitars and basses – this one didn’t come with directions, but he should be able to figure it out.

I agree with the "young lady" on the sidewalk. Somebody got mad.

An upset girlfriend?! While I don’t condone the blatant disrespect for trees, if you’re gonna go all Pete Townshend on an instrument, it shouldn’t be over some guy you’re not even happy with. Unleashing the rock ’n’ roll rage has got to be all about you.

Why does it have to be a girl who broke it?! That kind of presumption makes me so angry that…I think I’m gonna go break something! :D

    (I’m only kidding)

  9. To me it wouldn't be worth the effort to resurrect.
    A real Gibson would though.
Also interesting the head snap off isn't only a Gibson issue.

    I stand corrected.
    …and warned.
    …and a little bit frightened.

Yeah, I see the sexism in it, and even thought that when I was typing it (and though she said it, not me, I'm still guilty of furthering the idea).
As someone who appreciates language, though, I will say that "Probably an upset significant other" doesn't flow as smoothly. :smug: We'll have to come up with a new signifier.

I was totally kidding and didn’t mean to make anyone feel weird. It was a really fun story and didn’t mean to ruin the laugh.

All good - no offense was taken, but I really did think about it as I typed it.

And as for the weight questions, the body is freakin' heavy. Maybe the lack of neck attached makes it seem heavier (all the weight centered in one area and no easy way to hold it in one hand without a neck)?

That's "Reverb" listing in the making, vintage, slight scratch on headstock, road worthy guitar,....
