I would measure the length of you J pickups. I know that certain Mexican basses the bridge PU is the same length as the bridge. The EMG GZR PJ -- the J is 3.7 inches. The short J housing is 3.590, if you Jaguar has the short J bridge it will not fit.
There are also 2 versions of the GZR PJ, the 3 pin and 2 pin version. The 3 pin allows you to change the phase without flipping the pickup. GZR a vintage style pickup which I feel sounds best in a passive bass. Also it has different specs to PJHZ passive, in terms of inductance and impedance and resonant peak.
EMG active pickups need 9V to 18V power (actually even 27 volts) but they do not get this from the pre-amps. They usually come with a battery buss and they get their power off the buss. The secondary preamp which can be a simple tone control that still needs 9V. They also have something complex as a 4 band and you power those as well. I say secondary because the pickup themselves have a preamp built-in. I do not know if you can actually get the signal from EMG active pickups into a passive tone control. What I have done is bypass tone control. I've seen EMGs go into a John East preamp but did not test the passive operation.
