A few years ago we hosted a Halloween party/show at an old movie theatre. We decided to dress up like Sly and the Family Stone (we had a big horn section as well) and did a few Sly covers plus our originals. It was really fun!

My band was thinking of a few things:
Vegetables
Darth Vader (Singer) and Stormtroopers (Instruments)
Billy Corgan (Singer) and large Pumpkins (Instruments)

No offense but that is a lame costume. It's been done to death. To me nothing says, "I couldn't think of any cool costume" than a guy dressed in drag. In today's world, that has lost it's shock value. Go to San Francisco or New York and that is seen nightly.

I'd actually agree with you on this! If you're going to do it, do it well or not at all. Every show is Halloween for my band and it works
i am dawning a dress myself this halloween, but not to look like a chick... it just kinda fits the paint im going to be made up in

Last year our "ditsy diva" ran with the whole Blackkat theme ... she is not with us anymore (thank you) :scowl:
... I just drag out the Voodoo Bass.
Whatever you do, don't go shirtless and pour a bottle of fake blood over your head (ala Samhain). Your bass will keep sticking to your skin, and you will NEVER get it out of the nooks and crannies of your instrument. Looks pretty cool, though.
I only started playing bass in June, so I've not thought of this much until this year. We're going to put on a small show at the halloween party.
I thought it would be cool if our band went as the muppet band (Dr Teeth and The Electric Mayhem). Our drummer as animal would be sweet, and I could pull off Floyd Pepper with ease.
But, I think we're all doing our own thing. Maybe next year though.

As a longtime member of country bands, I think the second and third lamest costumes are cowboy and hippie.
The #1 lamest is the t-shirt from the Hallmark store that says "This IS my Halloween costume". :scowl: If that's all you got, don't bother.
A guy in drag isn't so bad... at least it requires a little effort.
It's the zombie thing for me and the band this year, I already got greasepaint and a quart of fake blood!
I used to do an old school (Adam West) Batman costume with Styrofoam muscles and the crowd would always love it.
