Hamer Club?!

Invalid Link Removed

Found this link to the press release from 2000 NAMM, when the bass was released.

Says it is called a Standard Bass, not a Blitz.

The U.S. Standard Bass was the upscale Blitz. It usually had binding, although not always. The Blitz usually had a P/J pickup, config and the Standard usually had something else (it varied by custom order.) Standards also often had flame tops but, again, varied by order. The Standards also had a different neck pocket, etc.

So, the two looked alike but we're actually different.

Hamer probably called the import basses Standards, since the Blitz name was very 80s and they no longer made them but still made Standards.

cool. Thanks for the info! I love it that I have a new bass to learn about! Didn't think about NAMM as a place for info

Thanks to fellow TB'er MC2NY I have added another Hamer to the family:

Great FBs!!! It's cool how many features are different between those two - the headstocks, P pickup orientation, control setup, jack location, neck profiles... Both of 'em are really nice sounding and playing basses.

Picked up this beauty at a pawnshop recently, black 1985 Blitz with OHSC. Had one back in the day that I always regretted selling as well as a Scarab so couldn't say no to this one, especially for the price I paid. Can I get a number?
