Hamer Club?!

Those are awesome ! :bassist:

I now own the black Hamer Cruise 5 posted by Kindness. He souped it up a bit--it has custom Aeros, red glass topped knobs and a red tort guard. Looks absolutely pimpin' and sounds as close to perfect as I've ever heard a jazz bass sound.

I also have 2 J-style cruise USA 4s (one 2Tek with late model Fender USA pickups, one Gotoh with the stock duncans) and an older P/J cruise set neck with the original DiMarzios.

Edit:

DOH!!! I didn't look carefully so didn't realize that was a fretless in the pic. I am the "other forum member" he mentions in his post.

i'll take a hamer club number , if i could:hyper:

Threadsurection. Can I get a number?

This is my favorite and has been for a while. Picked up a used Cruise in 96, had it modded in 2004 with EMG BQS system, EMG 40DC in the bridge, and EMG 40J in the neck. I love this bass and would scour the planet for another to set up the same way if ever lost or stolen.

Here's my Hamer Slammer SB4F shorty that came in the mail today. Slapped some piccolo strings on it for kicks.

Which one? The one at the bottom is one of the original 12vers ever made by Hamer called a Quadbass 12 because it had that mini mixer in the body and a breakout box that allowed you to send each string to a separate channel.
Tom Petersson had the first one on the Live At Budokan LP. Hamer made less than 10 of these. Mine is only one of 2 or 3 remaining with the Quad electronics intact...and I also have the breakout box that others are missing!

Mine came from the original owner around a decade ago....guitarist Eric Johnson's producer on his early work. The guy sold it to me trying to raise cash to build the biggest recording studio in TX.

All the Quadbasses were this body shape, except one Explorer shape made for John Entwistle....a couple SN digits from mine and also a sunburst. I think he used in on the Quadrophenia LP (how appropriate for the Quadbass!) Hamer also made a couple of 8-knob Quads, with simplified electronics, after the original 12-knob ones.

The late electronics wizzard Rex Bogue made some of the electronics for the Quads.

Congrats! That's a real killer looking Cruisebass. An early one from the logo...only one with block inlays I've seen.

Dibs if you ever get tired of it!

Here's one of my Cruisebass 4-strings....one of the few they made for Jeff Ament with his custom larger sized headstock for more sustain.

I have 2 basses and a guitar. The basses are a CH12 Chapparral 12 string (Korean) in black and a 4 string SFB (looks like a Les Paul doublecut) Chinese made bass in black cherry.

The guitar is a SFX in blueburst, also made in China.
I'll have to get some pics up soon....

Thanks! The previous owned had a luthier install the blocks. I don't see myself ever getting tired of it, but if I do... :D
How much more sustain can you need?! The 2Tek alone makes for ridiculous sustain. And I'd love to see that thing under stage lights. Mmmmmm, sparkly.

Both have 2tek bridges. The Five has Bartolini stacked humbuckers with a bartolini TC3. The four has Delano humbuckers with a Seymour Duncan Preamp. Both play and sound great!

I had to reshield the five since the previous owner had done a bad mod in the control cavity. It turned out great with conductive shieldning paint. I also shielded under the pickups and connected the paint with the control cavity. Before I shielded the bass it hummed when I wasn't touching the strings. Now it's dead quiet! :)

Hey all. I just got this baby last week, and was wondering if I could join the club? I also need some help dating it. According to the serial numbering system that I have read about, it was made in 1981? Is this right? The serial number is 1704705 and it was made in Korea. There is no space between the 1 and the rest of the numbers like most of the web sites say. Thanks for any help in advance!
