Man, that Acoustic 370/301 amp is a memory lane trip for me. Used one of those in the '70s.

You are probably tired of hearing me say it, but no one produces better bass oriented content than you!

A think week before last, Questlove a released podcast interview of Steve Ferrone, AWB's incredible drummer. Questlove asked if it was difficult having regularly switch between two bassists in one band. He said it was no problem because Hamish Stuart and Alan Gorrie we're both great in their respective styles. You should have mentioned that not only did Hamish Stuart play "School Boy Crush" with a pick, he almost certainly used his short scale Fender Mustang too.

What I love about AWB and other funk from that era is the tempo/pocket of the funk, a lot of funk is just played at such hyper-kinetic-speed these days for this old man.

A lot of hyper Funk is not really funky in the true sense of the word in that the music is not really danceable. Back in the classic Funk era, I can only think of two bands that regularly made music at faster tempos: Graham Central Station and Tower of Power. Maybe it was a Bay Area thing?
