Hanging by a Moment - Lifehouse

Not to go OT but I could never figure out how Lifehouse got away without getting sued by Pete Townsend.

Re 00's songs, a band I used to be in covered "Kryptonite" by 3 Doors Down. It is one of the most godawful boring songs EVER but crowds ate it up.

Tootal snoozer on bass. perfect crowd song. Cover bands play to the crowds. What does that tell you?

Your a good historian.Otis smokes on the song. The Black Crows had some luck with it in the 90s.

Most younger guys have no interest or respect for music history or the where some of these vintage hits come from. A lot of them regard the 60s & 70s as a joke.

the 60's and 70's were the best time for good music. I also really enjoy the version of Hard to Handle off of Fallout From the Phil Zone from the Grateful Dead...there's a part where Phil is backing the guitar so well it blows me away every time.

I love the Black Crowes, but I hate how they are known for the Redding cover. Not that it's a bad tune, but it's beat to death. The only thing I loathe more than hearing it on the radio is covering it in a band.

Likewise, Great White rocks; but in addition to the club fire, they'll always be known for that Ian Hunter cover.

We pulled out Kryptonite on the gig last week. I'm not saying we didn't do it kicking and screaming. :D

I always loved that Lifehouse song, though.

After reviewing what you good folks have said and talking it over with the band (BTW- I learned the Lifehouse song anyway) we have decided to take a pass on the song.
If it were up to me, I'd do it because well, based on our singers abilities, I'm pretty sure he could nail it with full conviction... but, not gonna happen...
We have decided, now get this, to pursue Iris, by the Goo Goo Dolls... well I learned that one last night... and I still much prefer the Lifehouse song. But, it's a band and I will always do what the band thinks is best... team player and all!

Iris? Really? I can say from experience...that if you're gonna do goo goo, try out Slide. It's fun (our crowds dig it) and is full of harmony opportunity. "Yeah Slide"
