The great Jerry Jemmott turned 79 last week on 3/22/25. He is a great R&B bassist and early exponent of the Jazz Bass. He was often mentioned by Jaco Pastorius as an influence.

The great Jerry Jemmott turned 79 last week on 3/22/25. He is a great R&B bassist and early exponent of the Jazz Bass. He was often mentioned by Jaco Pastorius as an influence.
Things work out as they will, but save for his terrible car accident, he was Duane Allman's first choice for the then-forming Allman Brothers Band.

I think they wouldn't have been the same band without Berry, his style was way different than Jemmott's and important for setting the style of the band. With Jerry they would have been more R&B oriented. It's easy to hear what they would have sounded like with Jemmott, he was Greg bassist for a long time in the 00's, I saw him with Greg, and it was great, the Allman catalog was turned into a soul revival.
