Harassing people is fun!

Has someone prescribed to you what you can or cannot say/write?

Don't take to heart what others say. Need thick skin in this world.
I've done my share of biting, and gotten reamed as well. I forget about it in 2 minutes, so I can't really respond to the question you initially asked.
Nobody but the mods can tell you what you cannot say. It takes all types to spin this top. If you hear the same thing consistantly from everyone, then maybe there's something to it. If you hear the same thing consistently from only the same few people, then it's they who have the problem.

Reduce the number of posts you make and respond only to those that are near and dear to your heart. There are trolls/stalkers on most every board and they get tired when you don't leave a door open for them. In most cases, who cares what they think? They probably don't have any idea about what they are talking about and if they do and they are still disparaging, then they aren't good people. Mean people suck.

That's they way I see it. I don't go out of my way to tell people to shut up.

I have noticed this. You certainly receive a lot more crap than you dish out, on a personal level. Similar to the person I referenced above.

Here's what happens. You post innocently, but a lot of the posts strike a lot of people as a little off. Then some who aren't afraid to show their backsides (like me) :p start to pick on you then it attracts all sorts of pile-ons... sharks to the chum. Then you get defensive, which draws even more attention/criticism/butthurt, and the cycle repeats... a vicious cycle. Then you start to gain a reputation as "that guy" and even people who are "nice" feel they can take a little shot because they're not as bad as the other guy, and soon there's no room left to dodge and parry... your king is surrounded.

Again, I got nothin' but, "Good Luck!"

Well, I have nothing against you have agreed and supported you in some things, have skipped a good bunch too.
So I'll just share life's experience :
1.Frequently bring up polarizing subjects : People get polarized. People get polarized, some get mad. People get mad, some throw stones. People throw stones, ya get hit.
2. When you get hit you play victim. People who throw stones throw harder.
3. Complain it ain't right to throw stones.

Rinse and repeat.

If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always gotten.

1.Frequently bring up polarizing subjects : People get polarized.

Similar to what I was thinking: bring up controversial topic, state a very rigid position, people disagree... but then complain that people are disagreeable??!!?

Carrot noodle casserole.
The hell is wrong with you? What sacrilege.

I don't get told to shut up because I don't try to stir the waters. I'm all for people posting what they want. If I like it, cool. If I don't, perhaps I'll chime in my own opinion. If I really dislike it, I'll ignore and forget. If it's the poster I have an issue with i just add to my ignore list. So far, I have about 20 Koreans on that one.

I'm curious where people are telling you to shut up? I've followed a few of your threads, OP, and I haven't seen that. Not saying it's not there, I'd just like to read those threads myself.

From my seat, what I see is that OP "spams" a lot of threads here. Often, stating an opinion as fact, a fact incorrectly, or a complaint. The delivery on these are especially... lackluster and have a "I'm right, you're wrong unless you agree" sense about them. With that, you will of course get a ton of flack. I'd suggest getting used to it and ignoring it. Starting another thread complaining about your supposed mistreatment... probably not the best idea.

I'm curious where people are telling you to shut up?

Most recently I made the mistake of voicing my opinion in the thread about what should we do about the guitarist, or thereabouts.
First I was basically told to keep my opinion to myself, but the OP was soliciting opinions.
Then, I was attacked straight on by another poster who did the same thing to me last week on one of my own threads, again essentially telling me to shut up.
I have a thick enough skin, but blatantly telling people to shut up is just downright rude, especially when opinions were asked for at the outset of the thread.

Once upon a time, long, long ago, there was a young IconBasser who couldn't close his mouth. Try as he might, his jaw was stuck open aaaaaall day and aaaaaaall night. All kinds of things crawled in and out of there, some mundane, and some horrifying, and some hideously meaty and throbbing. Like a caterpillar just before it's ready to transform. But with less legs. One day, a little fly flew in there, and liked what he saw. He flew out again, and brought all his brothers and aunts and cousins and great grandparents. And they had the best Cinco De Mayo celebration that a fly ever had, right in the voluminous cavern of Icon's open mouth. They had so many drops of cerveza that they couldn't fly straight anymore, so they all fell down and gathered in the back of the throat, where that other caterpillar thing that wasn't a caterpillar was hanging out. The throat had no choice but to swallow them down. As you all well know, flies are notorious for carrying all sorts of nasty parasites. So while the flies all went to the great insectoid afterlife cumpleaños in the sky, their drunk and decaying bodies hatched over 75000 worms with massive daddy issues and even bigger growth rates. So Icon died. The end.

Enough,man...Can't you see that every time you start one of these threads, the people you're refering to are just wetting themselves with delight.

A little self-righteousness is healthy....Apply some and let it go.

If it's just one or two TBers that tell you to shut up on a lot of topics on a consistent basis, you can prolly ignore them. If it's a variety of TBers on a a single topic, they might not be the one who's wrong.
