Hardcore Boston fan club

I remember the day he died (March 9th, '07). I think I got a little teary eyed when I read the specifics. So sad.
My roommate at the time was his great nephew (I think that's the right term, his mother was Brad's niece). Anyways, he had a bunch of pictures of him playing with beatlejuice on our mantle for a while. Very sad circumstances.
I've loved Boston since I was around 11 years old. The first album was (practically) in a constant loop for months. I was greatly saddened by the news of Brad Delp's death. I honestly can't pinpoint a favorite, far and above others. Long Time and Smokin' come directly to mind, though I love all the songs.
...who were about 10% as cool as The Dark, or Limbo Race, or Young Snakes, or Wunderkind, or Three Colors, or a sickeningly large number of other Boston-area bands that played around the same time.
The Slaves, Is This Bob, Condo Pygmies, Titanics/Satanics, Bags, Slaughter Shack, Cavedogs, Spore, Victory at Sea... The list goes on. GG were a very good band, but a little of their beer 'n' SK8 shtick goes a long long way.
The title of this thread confused me a bit.. too..I was in my high school woods class, and the classic rock dj said the news. I yelled "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!" then the station played "Peace of mind".
Last year they were touring as Boston with Michael Sweet from Stryper on Vocals. He's a huge Boston fan and does a decent vocal. Not Brad Delp but who is. I'm a fan of Boston from way back. My old man had there stuff and played it alot. I couldn't help but aquire a taste for it. As much as I enjoy the new generations of music (yeah I said it I like new music) it's definitely not the same as the classics. Oh and as far as a favorite album, I couldn't pick. Put 'em all on an endless loop and let 'em roll.

Boston certainly deserves its rightful place in Rock 'n' Roll history. They were a great band. And, when you consider that the debut disc (still one of the biggest selling debut's in history) was recorded on a 12-track system in Tom Sholz' basement, it seems even more amazing.
Brad's vocals were stellar, no doubt about it. But, Tom was no slouch in his many departments either. Writer, producer, engineer, arranger, guitarist, inventor, keyboardist. His bass playing on "Amanda" is fantastic, in my opinion.

Love, Love, LOVE Boston. It is hard to pick just one or two pieces from their cat. of songs. I choose them all....even the era without Delp. What I love so much is that the first record sonicly holds up to recordings done today. It's amazing!
Absolutely! The band, the town, and the Red Sox baby! That's one of the few bands that a LOVE listening to, but never learned any of their stuff. I guess I was always so busy learning songs we played out that I never had the time. And NOBODY I've met can hang with Boston vocals.
The band: Peace of Mind is a great song, with fantastic harmonies on the chorus. Same with Don't Look Back.
The town: one of the best. I used to live in MHT and miss it sorely. I don't know many people who consider their home town to be the best there is, but the Bostonians I know for the most part do, and with good reason.

Never had a chance to see Boston Live. With Brad doing all the vocals on their early albums, how did they cover vocals live?
Yeah, I've always loved Boston.
I read an interview a while back with Fran Sheehan and he was saying something about getting into a bicycle accident and messing up his hands and not being able to play well (if at all) anymore. I was saddened by this.
I was always amazed by his style and how he could bob his head (like angus in ac-dc) for entire songs and still play so freekin well!

For me, Something about you, off the first album does it for me. Thats a perfect album, just amazing on every level, especially the bass lines
I remember the hype of their first album release. My friend and I were at Lechmere's at Librerty Tree Mall in Danvers. The store had Boston Album covers, posters and banners plastered everywhere. They also were playing the album in a continuous loop. Thing was, they didn't have any albums in the store yet! 
Boston's first album is my favorite. It's one of a few albums that I could listen to without wanting to skip past any of the songs. All the songs on it were excellent. Still are!
