Hardest instrument to play?

I'd have to say the drums. I've been taking a percussion class for band, and man... it's absolutely ridiculous how specific the technique is. Anyone who thinks it's just wailing on some cylinders is in for a surprise. Playing snare at high school marching level is hard enough, I'd imagine a whole set would be god mode. I've also heard that the French Horn is difficult, but I've never tried that.

There's no such thing as hardest instrument to play, as long as there are creative minds on every instrument creating new techniques and harder songs there is no limit to how hard it can be. However, I think some instruments are harder to pick up on than others, such as guitar is hard to begin playing but I feel that bass was much easier. I also feel that it is harder to be something special on bass than guitar.

The oboe and bassoon are widely known to be among the most difficult instruments to play - much more difficult than any stringed or brass instrument (drums are obviously less difficult). The two-sided design of the reed makes it a real challenge to form notes, because the shape of the reed itself changes while playing.

The oboe is often referred to as "the ill wind that nobody blows good".
