I dated a brilliant lady.. she was a concert Oboe... full ride tuition right through her Phd because of it.

She'd shrug her shoulders at her skill level... due to her focus on the instrument, she could pick just about any percussion, keys, woodwind or string instrument up and play it.

I still remember her making reeds under the table like a nervous habbit - she made 10 to make one that would work.. guess the split fast.

It's also the biggest instrument.

6 Keyboards, One of which is played with the feet, 2 Huge pannels full of effects and 5 pedals.

I'd argue in the case of voice there is a certain element of innate singing ability.

my buddy just picked up a pedal steel and that seems pretty difficult. using your feet, knees and hands. crazy stuff. one of my favorite sounding instruments though

Then again, some might think Zanphir and his PAN FLUTE is tuff........huh huh huh! I have all his albums, attended all his concerts and have Zanphir draperies, pajamas, Christmas tree ornaments and glassware.

Really? I thought the stick and touch guitars in general are supposed to be more intuitive so long as you are comfortable with two hand tapping technique from guitar or bass.

Drums are difficult for me because it's difficult for me to coordinate both my hands and feet together. Without the kick drum aspect it wouldn't be as hard.

If you think kick drums are hard, try a song with closed and open hi-hats AND odd rhythms on the kick. Fun all round.

I've gotta go with upright bass. As one of the largest instruments, you have to cover a lot of real estate physically to utilize the entire range. Not to mention intonation, tone, bow technique, etc... Very physically and intellectually demanding instrument.
