Harley Benton RB414CS

I'm not sure where to get it here in the US. I bought mine from Rondo Music several years ago and I noticed that this one is priced in Euros.
Looking on the US Amazon site, there is similar, but do not have string through holes. I found one with holes, a little different but is setup for string through. Note that the original has only 2 screws holding it on. Everything else uses 4. There are several single string bridges, a much more difficult unit to keep straight and all set up for strings through.
Here's the other bridge that will work. In US. I noticed the string holes arn't chamfered, that can be done quickly with a drill bit.

Has anybody actually tried the Hipshot replacement bridge for a Ric. on this model of HB? Fitment issues, string spacing, etc..
Yes I know it's near or more than the cost of the bass but I'm thinking it may be well worth the investment.
*Please don't suggest that I look @ I own a HB club unless you care to share a link. Thank you*
I have a Hipshot Ric replacement bridge that I've yet to install because I've had no problems other than keeping track of the rollers. The dimensions look like a direct replacement as far as "fit"and string spacing.Unless I'm missing something, from the look of things I don't see a problem.I got mine on Reverb.

I'm not sure which one it is. The most important thing to me is stability of the parts. Having string through is as much bragging rights as anything.

TB'er Mirandm kindly posted this a while back. Right of the bat you'll see the HB saddles are roughly in the Ric mute area.

Bridge position is determined by scale length. For both the Ric and the Hipshot replacement you'll need to move the bridge forward until the saddle for G is slightly more than 34" from the nut. Should be OK as I'm sure the screw mount holes will be hidden.

The Ric saddles are in a different place because the Ric neck is only 32 inches. The 414 is 34 inches. I installed my bridge and it intoneates perfectly. My bridge saddles are in the same place as the originals. And strings through to boot!

What make bridge is that in your photo?
Sorry, but, I bought it about 10 years ago from Rondo Music, and they don't list it anymore. I have looked, and I think I found it without the holes for strings through. It may have been Amazon or Alyexpress. I'll look agian and post it if I find it. It may have been posted by European Amazon. I'll take a look, I don't know if I can get the European Amazon. I might find it without the string through option. I used it without on my SX Jazz bass for several years.

It's actually 33.25" but apart from that you have the mutes to account for, they sit forward from the saddles on a Ric bridge. If using a Ric bridge or the Hipshot replacement you need those saddles at the 34" mark, this places the replacement bridge in a different position. 34" instead of the intended 33.25"

Could mean the end of the bridge stops short of the body .

I placed the bridge saddles at the same place as the original bridge. As you can see, this bridge doesn't go to the back of the body. Here, the bridge is where it belongs, all screws and strings through are not there yet.

@rfslick

My comments have been in reply to @Charlie28711 about using Ric bridges or the Hipshot replacement bridges on the RB 414. The bridge needs moved forward so the saddles sit at 34", that moves the mute area closer the treble pickup and the end of the bridge stops short of the body.

This is how it turns out.

Thank you. This is what I'm looking for.

I’m sorry to resurrect an older thread ... have any of you bought those bridges posted (amazon ones). The magideal one is still available - if that will work I will definitely scoop it....

I know it’s crazy, but I love this bass lol. I am replacing the bridge PU with a LZN B90 from serek & was thinking of throwing in something in the neck.

Has anyone here done something similar?
Thanks & sorry again

I have a Hipshot Ric replacement bridge that I got for a different build but never used but this bridge seems ok so l will go with it until it breaks if ever. The Hipshot is supposed to be the best at $125.I have replaced both pups,a Nordenblocker in the neck and a Sentel in the bridge plus a Tone Monster preamp and I'm happy with the results. All told I have a great bass for about 500 bucks.

How’s that nordy in the neck? I’m def putting a serek LZN b90 in the bridge.... I got a feeling if I get a nice neck pick up I’m set.

have a rickenbacker 4003 harness incoming too....

would love to get a cheaper bridge than that for this as I’m already doing way too much tbh.... but I love the way it sounds.

If anyone could chime in that this bridge works would be great. It was linked above, but it’s this one for ease: https://www.amazon.com/MagiDeal-4-s...11076574&sprefix=bass+bridge,aps,304&sr=8-153

The nordy is great, from almost everyone I've seen in reviews like Patrick Hunter claim the bridge is good and maybe better than an authentic Ric bridge so I'd think twice about replacing it.

With neck through and set neck basses the correct bridge is crucial. They are designed to work with the stock bridge.

Throw a bridge that's too tall on there and you'll never get a low action. Use a low profile bridge , the problem is in reverse. Strings start to foul on the bridge pickup or the upper frets.

Too tall, too low bridges have solutions. You can sink into the body or raise using a base shim.

Forewarned of this you can now make any bridge work

There's a guy been scouring the net for RB414 posts, on every one he talks of a bridge design fault and an imagined situation involving a broken string and part of the bridge rolling under the drum riser.

Could happen but I can't help thinking "Jeez fella. If you're that concerned, quit the copy/paste for a moment and use a dab of glue." :roflmao:
