Thought I would check in again. Still using the Kilo bridged into a classic 8x10. I am placing this cabinet out front instead of using PA support. Running the signal out of the Kilo back into the Buster through a a 2x10+horn on the stage. Complete control of my amps this way and it sounds pretty darn good.

FWIW, used Buster through 8x10 this weekend and the Kilo through the 4x10. Both continue to be flawless (except for the Buster DI). Was able to solve the ground loop hum by taking the effects send from the Buster into the Kilo.
Yeah, it's overkill, but my what excellent sound.

I had a few hours by myself at our rehearsal space today so I played around with my eq settings which I havent done in some time. I ended up pulling out some 500hz, lower the gain a bit, bringing up the compression and shutting of the shape all together. Sounding pretty good but we will see how it sits in the mix on Friday.

Thought I would take my turn here again. After noting your comments Adam I put my Kilo on the bench last week. I had a couple of new (used) cabs I wanted to incorporate. In this test environment I could hear things I had not noticed during a gig of course. The 'shape' circuit had a little more noise than I expected. Also, when I used it in 'stereo' mode the balance circuit was developing some noise. Went ahead and used the head into the 8x10 Friday night in bridge mode. It worked at gig volume without problem as it always has.
Saturday night I decided to use the Mesa Buster instead of the Kilo into the 8x10. Gotta say, sure noticed the fact I was using a tube head. Really liked it better this time.

I ran my Kilo through a 4.5XL last night. Definetly a different tone than the Hydrive. I think I almost liked it better. If I had 2 they may replace the Hydrive. Although Id rather move the 120lb 810 than a pair of 95lb XLs. Still loving the Kilo and always get complements from every bass player at the show

This is strange to me too. Must be because of the Class D craze that has taken over. I sold off a bunch of different Class D amps and am back to heavier ones these days for my main amps because they just sound better to me. I figure the extra little bit of exercise is a good thing too. :) I do still use a lightweight one for certain smaller gigs where my bigger amps are just way overkill (like some P&W stuff.)

These are still available if you look around. I just picked up a brand new one at SA and love it as well. Sounds incredible with my DNA cab. So far so good with no issues whatsoever (hoping it stays that way!)

I ended up swapping the old tubes back in. For some reason the new tubes made the amp distort at low volumes (not in a good way) but was ok at higher volumes. And the gain had to be run real low or my active basses would murder the input. It was really odd. Perhaps a bad tube.

I may or may not have bought the last Kilo available from Hartke this last April.... but, I love it. I run it through different speaker combinations all the time and still haven't decided what I like best. I have a AK410 and 2 homemade 15"w/drivers that I play around with. Was thinking of getting a 810 cab as I'm in a Sabbath tribute and my guitarist gets pretty loud....
Two Thumbs up so far!

Hi guys, I found a couple of shops which are still selling the kilo. I am in love with this head but I found many threads about people declaring the head easily breaks...also I see Hartke is not producing it anymore. Any comments from people that had/have it? Thanks!

No longer produced. They ALL had issues with overheating and burning output transistors when used in bridge mode. I bought one new and later noticed the fans never operated. I repaired mine myself before it failed and used it for a couple of years in stereo mode. I did not need bridged mode anyway. I was still plenty loud. It was built like a tank and nearly as heavy. Not really sure why they were even built considering the better offerings Hartke already had and the class D fad was already in full swing. Would not recommend unless you get it dirt cheap.

I sold mine and the cabs early this year. I was never too impressed with the volume and I was even running it through two HyDrive cabs. I've played amps that were half the wattage and a quarter of the weight that were 5 times louder. However I never did have one technical issue in the 3 years that I used it, I guess maybe I was lucky.
