I'm sorry if this has been covered, but I'm brand new to the forums. I need a power switch for my Hartke Mosfet 3500 Transient Attack Head. It blew out, I temporarily replaced it and blew the capacitor, which I now have. I noticed yesterday that the active input jack gets no sound now. I don't know if they could be related, because I hadn't attempted to use the jack since the switch went out. All of the contacts on the double-jack board seem to be soldered fine. Any help would be much appreciated, even if just some advice on where to find parts. I emailed Samson days ago and they haven't gotten back to me.

If You have the multi tapped switch, it's quite obvious that you have to get the switch from Hartke if You want to keep the voltage switching capabilities, and that way the head stays safe as well.

I'd recommend a trip to a tech, but if You absolutely need to do it Yourself, do write down the wire color codes so you don't end up like the op in the thread I linked to.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not sure if I represented myself correctly, though. I'm just looking for the attached part, which I already have a new cap for and is extremely simple to replace. Do you even know how to contact Hartke directly? I'm under the impression that you have to go through Samson?

So You have the same oder model I think I had back in the day, makes things very, very much easier :).
Any component store carries those.

I haven't touched anything Hartke in years (save for some aluminium cone raw drivers), so I have no idea how to contact them directly, but Larry Hartke is an active member here and he usually chimes in when he sees any Hartke issue.

If by cap You mean the disc shaped component across the power supply leads, that is a VDR.
Protects the appliance against voltage spikes.

If a cap on the PS or VDR smokes on power-up, there's IME usually problems downstream as well.

The switch had originally started smoking, and eventually failed. I tested it with a multimeter, and it's dead. The VDR was fine until I(like a moron) decided to use another switch temporarily, which worked fine, other wise. That's when it just blew. It sounds like I may just have to prepare to be robbed at my local shop, but I just don't know if it's worth it, or just going back to the way I had it rigged, although I have no idea why the active input jack is getting no sound and if the two problems are related. I tested the jack and everything seems like it should be working, so I don't know if the absence of the VDR can cause this. Anyway, thanks so much for the help, guys. I'm still going to try to find out how to replace the switch and see if I have the same problem again. Seems cheaper than taking it to a tech, first.
