Has anyone bought and NOT liked a Sadowsky??

I was actively bass shopping a few years back and had the opportunity to try a Sadowsky 5 string Jazz back-to-back against a Lakland 55-94. I liked them both but preferred the Lakland, particularly the Lakland necks.

However, I am open to the idea of putting a Sadowsky pre in one of Lakland's j-type basses, and may eventually do that somewhere down the road.

never bought one, but the two NYC Jazz's I've played have both been amazing... As good as any Fender Custom I've played.

Stoked for You mike and I feel that way about My Modulus VJ %100 of the time I feel I know I can use that without any issue.

However I don't see that tool/bass working that way for everyone.[/

I've come to the point where I just want my basses to play easily and sound good without a lot of extra work on my part or anyone else's. Sadowskys by and large do that for me. I like Nordys with 2-band preamps a lot also.

I know that this an old thread but this is exactly the reason I’ve exclusively have chose to make my Sadowsky my main player than all my other basses that I own for the majority of my gigs..However I will play my beloved 74 Jazz on a few occasions.. Don’t get me wrong I do love my other Basses and they all sound and play very well, but the Sadowsky is simply plug in, ready-set-go. I’m sure there other Basses that are probably better and that’s fine but I’m good.

Haven’t seen this thread before now…..

Several months ago, I was on the production team that worked a show with the former Eagle guitarist doing solo shows for the last few years. On shows like that, I usually have time on my hands, and it’s a good time to practice a bit. So I took my favorite bass, my Lull M5V.

The bassist with this artist was playing a Sadowski NYC jazz-style 5-string bass. After soundcheck, we did a “show me yours and I’ll show you mine” with our basses. We definitely liked each other’s bass, but not enough to steer us away from our respective basses.

I gotta say, his NYC Sadowsky was really, really fine. Not a thing about it I didn’t like. But it didn’t move me enough to consider owning one. I had always been curious about the Sadowskys, and now I know.
