Has anyone made a Torzal tist-like neck?

The lawyer lingo escapes me pretty good, me being a non native speaker it's no small surprise, but two things left me wondering.
Perhaps You more experienced could shed some light on it:

"It's a further object/aim of the invention..."

Obligatory or not?

Do all the aspects of the claim have to be met, or just any of them?



Doesn't change the individuals right to make one, obviously, but just for curiositys sake if for nothing else.

Here's pics again. Neck is fretted and frets are leveled and crowned. Tomorrow I'll drill the side dots and then it's time for final coat of epoxy. Also made some bobbins for individual string pickup. Steel poles with fiber board plates. Ceramic magnets under each row of coils and ebony cover. There's some very, very boring pickup winding ahead.

Yes, that's Jerome Little's patent. (He has very helpfully commented her in the past, by the way. Was a nice guy.)

What matters in a patent are the actual claims. What is not claimed in the "claims" section at the end is supporting material, is explanatory, and not protected.

My simplified interpretation, for this patent (the authoritative, and unsimplified version is the patent wording itself): There is only one claim, at the very end. This claim is one sentence with various clauses, which when combined simultaneously are the claimed invention. They prescribe an instrument
- with a body and thru-neck, several strings, the strings increasing in separation from nut to bridge;
- with the nut and bridge twisted 5-65˚ with respect to each other;
- and with the neck built up from twisted laminated layers that run from end to end, such that the twisted layers form the twisted neck.


Further background are the rest of the text of the patent, and in the earlier patents called out in the "citations" section at the beginning.

You can also get interesting reading by looking at the later patents in the "referenced by" section. These are patents that, for one reason or another, use this patent in their own "citations" section.

Some progress again. Headpiece made, neck cavity routed, heel skinned with cf and pickup made. Pickup cover is with MM5 dimensions, made of black pickguard plastic. I bent the sides with heat gun, then superglued the top on and sanded the top along the sides. Coils cast in casting urethane. I'm going to try the pickup with ceramic magnets on bottom of the pole pieces and with steel keeper bar with two ceramic bar on each keeper.
I'll try to take pics of the bass tomorrow. At the moment it's in crafts class at work where I'm making it little by little.

Almost finished. I have to paint some screws black, get height adjustment screws for the bridge saddles, lacquer the neck and after that put all the parts together. Finish on the body is just two coats of Liberon Finish Oil. One more coat is drying at the moment, then it's time for wax.
