Double Bass haunted UL110

Ok this is freaky, so hopefully someone can tell me why this is happening and maybe what's causing it.

I just had my Epifani UL110 replaced since my teacher bought my last one. I just got out of shower and noticed that there was unusual buzzing (like a 60 hz hum) coming from somewhere in my living room. I follow the buzz to the cab, and it's coming from the tweeter. The freaky part is that the cab is not plugged in!

Turns out that I can control the buzz using the tweeter adjuster in the back. It has never done this in the short time I've had it. Any explanations? Thanks.

Something in the cabling/interface is acting as an antenna, and is transmitting whatever it's picking up audibly through the speaker. Most speakers are passive, so they'll transmit whatever comes through the line, and many common household devices have power supplies that emit signal.

The fact that your attenuator still works is to be expected... it acts on whatever signal is on the line, be it a bass signal from a power amp or an unintentional signal pulled from the air.

My guess is that it's coming through faulty wiring somewhere in your house, but it could be just about anything.

Thanks. I figured as much after a while. I picked up the cab and used it like you would a geiger counter and found the buzz maxed out in an area between my living and dining room. Totally in the open, so it's probably something in the floor or ceiling.
