Double Bass Have I Lost It?! (Eternal String Struggle)

Dear All,

have I genuinely lost it by not caring about first and foremost double bass gear, it is an acoustic instrument after all, secondmost setup, get it done proper to your liking by an established double bass luthier!, and lastmost... strings, the audience does not care!

What the audience care for is to listen, to dance and to have a good time.

Only thinkering I do is move the bridge feet position up or down, resulting in a boomy bass when the bridge is setup high or a singing bass when the bridge is setup low. #lowbudget

No clue, maybe I just needed to vent.

Thank You

Rama

By moving your bridge upward the soundpost is further below the bridge which supposedly increases the boom. The opposite happens when you move the bridge southward over the SP where the effect to the sound is brighter and less boomy.

The other situation is that when you move the bridge southward your strings come down closer to the fingerboard, which with your spirocore starks make them easier to play.
