He’s Back!

I dunno any more than what I just read on the site. Looks like relatively expensive, custom build (sorta) US made only P and J and P/J, 34” and 30” scale 4 bangers with improved headstock.

Personally, I never particularly minded the old headstock. I have two of the older Korean Larkin’s and I think they’re fantastic. I doubt that i’m going to be buying a $3k+ bass anytime real soon, but I wish him luck.

Other than the neck and body he makes, what makes these worth that much???? It seems like he shapes the neck and body, and then adds a bunch of Hipshot hardware. All that for over $3,000??? I don't think so.

By "all made in USA production" you think it means that he and his partners make the bodies and neck? Or you think they'll be USACG or Warmoth production bodies and they'll "shape" them? If they're truly hand-made by him and the crew, that might warrant the pricetag. But if they are just finish sanding bodies spit out on a factory line, not even close. I can put together my own "Fender-type bass" for a LOT less than that. I own a parts P bass that has a PAF era DiMarzio, Hipshot Ultralites, weighs less than 8 pounds and sounds/plays fantastic. I have less than $500 in it.

Sure, he has a great reputation. But if he's asking is to plunk down three grand, he's going to have to tell me EXACTLY what I'm paying for. (Not that I would sink that into a Fender clone anyway.)

I don’t see anything special there unless the thrill of speaking to Dan personally is worth a premium to his fans.

They sound like decent enough basses however. But I’m not going to be very interested in getting one at those prices. As @two fingers pointed out, these are still Fender clones.

Sadowsky basses are parts basses and worth every penny.

Can't wait for Gorillaz's Murdoc Niccals signature model

Also, for a company that isn't Lakland, there are a LOT of Lakland references on the site.

THIS. I feel like he's trying to go directly after Lakland - again - for no other reason than hubris. I wish the guy well, but I don't see how this business model is going to be successful.
