Head decals for VM Jazz bass

I May be wrong, Squier never called it anything but a " '70's" bass, but the very first bass I experienced GAS for was a '74 Jazz, and it had the black markers on a maple board, so, I assume the Squier is meant to be around early/mid 70's.
Take off the machine heads and sand the head evenly, to avoid making a patch. Use wet&dry to finish it off. Lacquer the face lightly before adding the decal. Lacquer well after adding it and you're done.
This is the proper mid-late '70's type headstock decal, is this what you had in mind?

Well, to commemorate the fact that my Squier Stratocaster is becoming quite a hybrid, I made a gag "Squender" decal by finding a close match to the Fender/Squier font and printing on transparent window sticker sheets, adhesive on one side, printable on the other. Not as "proper" as waterslide paper, but it printed nice and will probably look okay as long as the border is closely trimmed.
If I actually decide to use it, I'll post pictures for those interested in seeing how that works out.

Actually, after checking my sources, Fender changed the black markers to white pearl in 1974, so my recollection is faulty about the '74 having the black (probably a '72 or '73 that I was GASsing about), it seems the Squier VM J is meant to be from before 1974, whether that logo style is representative of those years, I don't know.
This is important. Decals stick better and have less of a chance of "silvering" on a glossy surface than a matte surface.
I've just been looking at a black VM jazz with a maple board and white pearl inlays - £280! In the same shop was the new USA '74 RI Jazz; white body black plate, bound rosewood (so dark!) with pearl inlays, big logo and all the ashtrays £1850. Both ends of the spectrum and both totally beautiful!

I have a Squier guitar a PO delogoed, and a Squier bass that could use a new decal as well.
I guess I am saying this thread interests me.
What type of guitar is it?
I think mine came out looking decent. If you look close, especially at an angle, you can see the harder edge of the material vs screening or waterslide, plus the fact that it has some sheen to it against a non-gloss headstock. Other than that, it works pretty well. And, being originally for windows, it is adhesive, but not gunky. Easy to remove and experiment with different things.

It's a Delonge Strat. I gought it cheap from a guy who got it even cheaper from a thrift store. It's got some paint damage and, as stated, it's missing the "Squier" part of the decal (although it still says "Stratocaster").

I'm using inkjet like Iavmonger in the other thread, therefore my limitations are the same as his. Also I'm not interested in doing custom decals, just the Squier ones, what do you play?
